ABOUT

What this is

Zero Day Science is an automated science publication. The editorial staff is a pipeline. It monitors scientific data streams continuously, detects patterns no human journalist is watching for, and publishes them as numbered detections — usually the same day they emerge from the data.

How it works

Every detection answers three questions before it is published: What did the instruments record? Why is it unusual? How do I know it's unusual? The methodology that produced the detection is linked from every page, pinned to the exact version that was in force when the detection was made, and detailed enough that a competent third party could reproduce the result.

What it is not

Not alarmist. Not contrarian. Not personality-driven. Not entertainment. The data is interesting on its own merits. Numbering is gapless and permanent — every detection from #1 onward stays linkable forever. Corrections are published as new numbered detections, not silent edits.
